Tickets to this game were only limited to Manchester United or Barcelona members due to their excessive demand. Starting at only €70 for last row tickets, this would cost the average Catalonian just under half their weekly income. Apparently at the door there were English tourists willing to pay €1000 for a ticket. Not too bad of a profit if you were to have bought a ticket for €70.
Their highly anticipated rematch that followed shortly after shattered the hopes of what Barcelona fans had already labeled a disappointing season following up on last years unsuccessful goal of any silverware. This followed the glorious ´06´ clean sweep season. The 1-0 defeat to Manchester United via a splendid Scholes kick that pierced the hearts of the Barça fans on what originally was to be a promising season with the addition of my Fifa 05 and 06 favourite player Thierry Henry.
This loss came more detrimental as Barça then lost 4-1 to arch rivals Real Madrid. A game in which Madrid dominated throughout the game. If it weren´t from a complimentary goal by Theirry Henry the game would have more so embarrassed the Camp Nou team as the score throughout the waining minutes was 4-0.
After watching both games, Lionel Messi has now become the dominant heart of the team for them to succeed. When he runs with the ball he raises seats similar to the play of Christiano Ronaldo but without the continuous circus act step-overs. Messi is a constant threat to opposing teams and watching him utilize the field with his team mates is what made Barça exciting these last few games. It took Barça five games to score a goal and from the unrewarded two seasons they´re now looking to dismantle what was once the dominant force in European footbal. Their coach is gone and it´s reported that 14 more players are to follow. Ronaldinhio the once heralded best player in the world for two years running is one of them.
