After visiting Park Gaul Katrina went to find some public transport to go back home. We walked, walked, and walked. Luckily it was slightly downhill. Eventually we got lost. We hadn't really explored Barcelona at the time so in a way it was good to walk around and see what the city was like.Considering that Barcelona is highly populated its strange to see no high rise building. I think the tallest building averages around 8 floors high. The architecture of Barcelona is incredible.
If you get lost in Barcelona and need to talk English I recommend talking to more of the younger generation but the elderly are very nice and polite in talking to you in Spanish. Besides one elderly woman that looked like she was going to have a heart attack when Katrina asked for directions.
Tired after walking so much we eventually made it to the world renowned Sagrada Familia. It really does live up to its name and its reputation. One thing that I don't understand though is how a building can take over 100 years to make. Maybe the builders had monthly Siesta's rather than daily siestas. Apparently the first phase of the building is expected to be completed this year while the rest of the building is projected to be completed by the year 2020. Buildings 20 times it size get completed within 2 to 3 years so the development behind this masterpiece must be complex and intricate.
Seeing the building is a remarkable spectacle and photos of the building look incredible at night.
Today it seemed very popular and there were a lot of tourists outside to see the attraction. For this reason we decided to save going inside for another day.
